How to convert HEIC to JPG on Windows

Convert iPhone HEIC photos to JPG on Windows in your browser. Follow the steps, choose quality, and keep the original photos without uploading them.

Why your photo has a .heic extension

Apple devices can save photos in a high-efficiency format that uses the .heic extension. A receiving app may expect JPG instead. Making a JPG copy is useful when you need to insert the image into a document, attach it to a form, or send it to someone whose software does not open HEIC.

Convert the original file in your browser

First, copy the HEIC file from your phone to a folder on your computer. Open the HEIC to JPG tool and choose the file from that folder. You can select several photos at once.

Choose a JPEG quality setting, then select Convert to JPG. When processing finishes, download a single photo or use the ZIP download for a batch. The tool decodes and converts the selected files on your device; it does not upload the photo contents to a conversion server.

Keep the HEIC original

Treat the JPG as a sharing copy. The still-image conversion does not preserve all the features that may accompany an Apple photo, such as Live Photo motion, depth information, HDR, or camera metadata. Keep the original files if you will need those features or want to edit the photos later.

JPEG is also a lossy output. If you notice blocky detail or rough edges, try a higher quality setting starting from the original HEIC, instead of repeatedly converting the JPG copy.

If the photo will not convert

Check that the original file completed its transfer and is not an empty cloud placeholder. Try one photo before processing a large batch. If the browser runs out of memory, close other tabs or reduce the number of images you select.

Renaming .heic to .jpg does not change the file's contents. If the image remains unreadable, open the original in a photo app that supports it and export a compatible copy there.
